East Midlands Vending Joins Forces with Pulp Friction CIC

East Midlands Vending is proud to announce our partnership with Pulp Friction CIC, a remarkable local social enterprise dedicated to working with young individuals who have learning disabilities and/or Autism to develop their social independence and work-readiness skills.

At the heart of Pulp Friction’s mission is a commitment to providing meaningful employment opportunities for young people with learning disabilities. Through innovative programs and hands-on experiences, Pulp Friction equips these individuals with essential skills, nurturing their talents and paving the way for future success.

Our collaboration with Pulp Friction comes at an exciting time as they prepare to showcase their vision of inclusivity at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in May 2024; the ‘Growing Skills Garden,’ designed and executed by Pulp Friction in collaboration with Project Giving Back and Dutch Landscape Architects. The garden serves as a poignant reminder of the challenges faced by individuals with learning disabilities in accessing employment opportunities. Five symbolic trees within the garden represent the mere 5% of adults with learning disabilities currently engaged in paid employment, highlighting Pulp Friction’s dedication to effecting positive change in this regard.

Moreover, Pulp Friction’s enduring collaboration with Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service shines through the garden, where a striking halo structure crafted from recycled fire hoses serves as a testament to their dedication to community engagement. As the Chelsea Flower Show concludes, plans are underway to relocate the garden to Stockhill Fire Station, further solidifying their commitment to community support and inclusion.

Pulp Friction Gardening

Beth Danks, lead gardener at Pulp Friction said; “This is such an exciting project for our Members. As well as getting their hands dirty planting and growing, all of the Pulp Friction Members will have the opportunity to apply to be part of the event team; staffing the garden, running events and activities linked to the project and its relocation to Stockhill Fire Station where it will be enjoyed by the community.

As East Midlands Vending joins hands with Pulp Friction, we are inspired by their unwavering dedication to fostering inclusivity and empowerment. Through our partnership, we aim to amplify Pulp Friction’s impactful work, raising awareness and advocating for a more inclusive society where every individual has the opportunity to thrive.

We’re extremely proud to support Pulp Friction CIC’s incredible ‘Growing Skills Garden’ project, which began construction in mid-May. As part of our commitment, we sponsored their uniforms, providing tops, hoodies, high-visibility vests, and safety shoes. By ensuring the team is well-equipped and comfortable, we hope to contribute to the project’s success and positive impact. We look forward to seeing the garden flourish and the benefits it will bring to the community. Thank you, Pulp Friction CIC, for this wonderful opportunity!

In addition to celebrating our partnership with Pulp Friction CIC, we invite you to join us in supporting their inspiring ‘Growing Skills Garden’ project. Your generous donations will not only contribute to the realisation of this beautiful exhibit at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show but will also help further Pulp Friction’s mission of inclusivity and accessibility when relocating the garden to its permanent home in Nottingham.
